Unearthing the Past Live online archaeology for home-educated young people aged 11+ What can an object tell us about the people who made and used it? How do archaeologists work out what happened at a site? And can we ever be completely sure that our interpretation of the past is correct? Unearthing the Past gives young people the opportunity to explore these questions through live, interactive online archaeology sessions. Led by Ceri, an experienced teacher with a PGCE and a Masters in Iron Age Archaeology, the course explores the past through archaeological evidence, objects, sites and competing interpretations. Rather than simply learning a list of dates and facts, students are encouraged to question evidence, develop interpretations and think like archaeologists. Sessions draw on a broad range of periods, with particular expertise in prehistory and the Iron Age. We can explore everything from the Neolithic and Bronze Age through to later periods, depending on the course programme. The sessions are designed for home-educated young people aged 11+ and are suitable for students with an existing interest in history and archaeology as well as those who are completely new to the subject. What to expect: - 90-minute live online sessions - Small-group learning - Archaeological objects and evidence - Discussion and questioning - Different interpretations of the past - Activities designed to develop archaeological thinking - A friendly, academically challenging environment Online | Ages 11+ | 90 minutes | Small group
